Chanhassen plans Princely event

Chanhassen is planning an event to honor the legacy of one of music’s greatest legends.

To pay tribute to the 40th anniversary of the release of Prince’s “Purple Rain,” Chanhassen is planning Celebration 2024. During this multi-day event, attendees will enjoy exclusive concert footage, celebrity panels, world-class music, activities throughout the Minneapolis downtown, and a newly refined tour of Paisley Park.

Although details are being finalized, some of the artists who will appear have already been announced. They include The Revolution, Morris Day, and New Power Generation.

The Revolution is Prince’s original backing band, formed in Minneapolis in 1978. Prince and The Revolution released the “Purple Rain” album in 1984. It hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was certified 13x Platinum by the R.I.A.A. The lineup of the band has changed over the years, and they have broken up and reunited, but continue to perform today.

Morris Day is a songwriter and singer best known for his work with The Time, a vocal group for which he sang lead. The Time often worked with Prince and the New Power Generation was also one of Prince’s backing bands.

Also scheduled is a boat ride on Lake Minnetonka and the chance to hear up-and-coming talent.

Celebration 2024 is for those 18 and older only, and runs from Thursday, June 20 at 10:00 am until Monday, June 24 at 6:00 pm at Paisley Park on Audubon Road. People planning events like this will often use poster printing to create suitable advertising for them.
