Annual run scheduled in Chanhassen

Numerous communities, including Chanhassen, celebrate holidays with a run, and an annual event is now on the schedule in Chanhassen.

The 2024 Turkey Trot is a 5K Run/Walk that will benefit a non-profit organization, The Bond Between, which is dedicated to building the animal-to-human bond. The organization was established as Secondhand Hounds in 2009. Since that time, it has rescued more than 30,000 cats and dogs. The Bond Between can undertake these rescues with the help of thousands of supporters, volunteers, and fosters. It provides daily necessities, veterinary care, and safe shelter for rescued animals while it helps them learn to relate to humans.

Runners will be able to choose between a long-sleeved T-shirt or a fleece pullover, plus finishers will receive donuts from the Baker’s Wife. The race starts and ends at the same place, and is in effect a large loop, most of it on a paved trail.

On race day, packet pick-up is from 7.30 am until 8.30 am. The Kids Dash begins at 8.45 am, and the 5K begins at 9.00 am. The course will be open for one hour and 20 minutes, and a virtual run option is available. The race is open to runners, walkers, and people with strollers, who will have to remain with the walkers. No dogs are allowed.

The Chanhassen Turkey Trot 5K is set for Thanksgiving Day, November 28. Organizers of events like this may work with a printer, which will use banner printing to create course markers.
