Annual hunt returns to Chanhassen

Every winter, Chanhassen holds an event that is sure to appeal to local Sherlock Holmeses.

The 2024 February Festival Medallion Hunt challenges participants to find a medallion that city staff members will hide somewhere in a space or park owned by the City of Chanhassen. The locations are open to members of the public from 6.00 am until 10.00 pm, and searches must take place during these hours.

The City warns people not to damage or destroy any property, and may stop the hunt if this happens. The medallion will not be placed under any surface used for ice skating, or underground, or so high that special equipment would be needed to find it. It is possible the medallion will be under the snow, so a shovel could be helpful. However, since the medallion is acrylic, a metal detector will be of no assistance. If no one has found the medallion by 4.00 pm on the last day of the hunt, the city may stop the event and give a local charity the prize.

The Hunt starts January 29 at 9.00 am, when the first clue will be posted on the Medallion Hunt section of the Parks and Recreation website. A new clue will be posted every weekday beginning on January 29 and ending February 2, or when the medallion is found. The prize for the winner is valued at more than $500. Organizers of events such as this can use poster printing to announce the festival.
