Burnsville kids invited to take part in some furry fun
Kids and parents alike who have an interest in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields and who live in Burnsville are invited to an event that will combine learning with four legged and furry fun.
This STEM themed event, which is open to those age 5 to 10 years old and their parent or guardian, will introduce the children to some of the different skills they will need to work in a STEM career. The kids will work with both stuffed rabbits and real bunnies as well, and will learn how to measure and record their weight, height and length. They will also do a check of their vital Signs, learn how to do a nail trim, provide first aid to a sore paw, measure and feed the rabbits food and water, use a microscope, clean water bottles and dishes and learn other aspects of caring for an animal.
STEM. Bunnies will be hosting the session, and noted that one of its goals was to help to foster an interest in the STEM fields in children. The workshop will also serve as a fundraiser for the group, and the proceeds will be used to help look after the bunnies in its care, including those that have been abandoned and are in a foster home. Families who come to the workshop may even decide to begin the process of adopting one of the rabbits. Workbooks and other materials for classes like these can be prepared by a local printing company.
