Also known as “great northern divers”, loons are a waterbird often associated with Minnesota's wild spaces, and they will be the subjects of a wildlife photo shoot that will take place on a Burnsville area lake.
A two-day workshop will give both amateur and professional photo buffs an opportunity to get up close and personal with loons. The activity will take place during nesting season, and care will be taken not to disturb the birds.
Kathleen Reeder, who is an area professional wildlife photographer and instructor, as well as naturalist Stan Tekiela will lead an excursion to one of the state’s lakes that is home to several nesting pairs. To help everyone prepare for the event, there will be resources shared online in advance, and each day out on the lake will offer six hours of shooting. A pontoon boat will be used, and transportation to and from the lodging to the dock will be provided.
An organized birding outing gives those who enjoy the hobby an opportunity to capture shots they might otherwise not be able to get. Registration Forms along with company Letterheads, waivers, equipment lists and tip sheets for an activity can all be prepared by area Print shops.
This sneak peek into the private family life of loons will be on offer on June 12 and 13. More details about the lodging establishment, which will be located in Minneapolis, will be released upon registration along with additional information.
