Minnesota's lakes, streams, and other bodies of water are home to a diverse group of shellfish, and a Burnsville area venue has organized an activity that will shine a spotlight on these bivalves.
Those who register for the Minnesota Mussel EdVenture this summer will be learning about the state's 50+ species of freshwater mussels. These filter feeders help to keep water clean, and the team at Minnesota Zoo will be offering guided activities that will visit them in person.
The group will have the opportunity to visit a facility where mussels are reared, and they will also take part in a guided tour of them in their wild home. They will paddle along the St. Croix River, and there may even be the chance to get involved with an environmental stewardship project. The activity will kick off at the Zoo and head to Taylors Falls Interstate State Park.
A guided activity provides the chance to learn about another wildlife world. Field guides, checklists, promotional Pens, and other customized items for an event can be prepared by area printers.
