Each year, many rabbits that were purchased as Easter gifts or other reasons wind up in a shelter or rescue home, and the planners of a Burnsville area event are hoping to make a difference.
STEM Bunnies will be hosting a day for area families that will give them a chance to enjoy interacting with a variety of bunny breeds. They will be coming in for the day from Peacebunny Island, which is a group that rescues rabbits and helps to preserve historical breeds.
The rabbits will be hopping freely through the field, while the human guests sit with them and relax. With a little patience and luck, a bunny may even decide to climb up on their lap. Breeds ranging from dwarf Hotot to mixes that include “biggies” such as Flemish Giants will be included, and there may be baby bunnies on hand as well.
The goal of the day is to give the public a chance to meet some rabbits and find out if they are a good fit for their family. There will be information provided about keeping one as a pet, and those who are considering fostering a rescue rabbit can also find out about that program. Information sheets and other items needed to help an event like this meet its goals can be obtained from an area printing services company.
This event will be Held at Peacebunny Cottage on October 6. The organizers remind all those who plan on attending to bring their camera, as there will be lots of opportunities to take some cute photos.
