On the north side of 25 Mile Road is a new pedestrian bridge that is under construction in Shelby Township.
The bridge will fill the existing gap in the sidewalk and provide an important link north of 25 Mile Road to Eisenhower High School, Morgan Elementary School, and Malow Junior High School.
The bridge will be supported by concrete footings, and will be made of a premanufactured steel truss. It is designed to improve the safety of pedestrians.
Funding for the project was made possible by an award of $268,169 from the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments. These funds will enable the town to execute its broader plan of improving connectivity for pedestrians, as this project covers one of the last gaps on 25 Mile Road between Mound Road and Van Dyke Avenue.
Local Print shops often assist in spreading the word about such initiatives to the community through the use of Flyers.
There is a lead time of seven months to fabricate the bridge. The excavation, earthwork, and concrete footings are expected to be completed by next month.
During the late spring or early summer, grading and the installation of the sidewalk will take place.
The bridge is scheduled to be installed in June. Once the bridge is installed, the completion of the sidewalk, restoration, and grading will take place, with a completion date projected for sometime in the summer.Get a Free Quote for Flyers Get a Free Quote for Print
