New convenience store to come to Shelby Township

A location of Sheetz will be coming to Shelby Township, in the vacant lot at Van Dyke Avenue and 22 Mile.

Sheetz is a family-owned chain of convenience stores primarily located in the Mid-Atlantic United States. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year and is known for its 24 extensive made-to-order food and beverage options.

Banner printing can be used at such sites to inform residents of such upcoming retail establishments.

Sheetz plans to invest close to $8.5 million at the site so it can build a store. The site has been vacant for over two decades. Rick Stathakis, township supervisor, said this will be a key step in removing blight which has been a major concern for residents of the township.

Nick Ruffner, a spokesperson for Sheetz, expressed his gratitude to the Board of Trustees of Shelby Township for their support and approval of the company’s request for a Special Land Use at Van Dyke Avenue and 22 Mile. He added that this action highlights the commitment of the Board to attract investment, drive growth, and create good job opportunities that will elevate and benefit Shelby Township.

The first Sheetz store in Michigan was opened in August and the company plans to add between 50 and 60 locations in the state in the next five to six years.
