South Portland shoppers invited to support makers

A curated makers' market will soon be offering South Portland residents a venue where they can support their local crafters by purchasing a variety of handmade items.

The event, which will be held at Thompson’s Point, will have 25,000 square feet of space. The lineup of vendors is expected to continue to grow as the date for the function approaches, and admission to the market is free.

The current plan for the event calls for it to be held indoors, and the shoppers can expect to be able to browse through everything from handmade clothes and toiletries, to decor, paintings, vintage goods and many other items. As there will be many unique pieces on offer, some visitors may use it as a chance to do some advance shopping for the holiday season.

Hosting a pop-up market like this gives a community a way to support its artists, crafters and other small businesses. Promoting it effectively will aid in making sure that as many as possible know where and when it will be held, and a poster printing company will have ideas and tips.

The team at Thompson’s Point is getting ready for this activity, which will be held on September 26. The doors will be open starting at 10:00 am, with the market open to the public for five hours.
