South Portland activity explores brain health

South Portland seniors, along with anyone else interested in learning more about the health of the aging brain, are encouraged to attend a function in early February.

The free workshop will explore how getting older can impact the brain’s function in areas such as mood, memory, and learning. The Point Community Center will be the venue for the morning.

The activity, which is part of the Legacy Learning Series, will be led by a moderator who is a subject matter expert. It will introduce brain changes and how to recognize them, advice for improving short term memory and information processing, and ways to increase mental agility. A discussion of mood and the importance of being socially active will be discussed, and key factors that can impact the brain's health will be reviewed. Actionable tips will be shared so that attendees can put them into practice after they leave.

People learn throughout their lives, and attending a class or workshop offers an opportunity to do so. A brochure printing company will be happy to prepare learning materials, while its in-house graphic design team can prepare any visuals required.

Seniors in South Portland, and others who might be interested in caring for the aging brain, are encouraged to register for this event, which will be held on Tuesday, February 3. It will start at 10:00 am.
