Two creative workshops are in the works, and book fans in the Towson area may well be interested.
A Cyanotype Printmaking workshop will be first in July. Cyanotype, a photographic printing process, uses chemically treated fabric or paper that when exposed to sunlight yields cyan-blue prints. This session will provide canvas tote Bags and paper that have been pre-treated with a light sensitive solution. Attendees will be placing plants, objects and stencils on the paper and canvas, and exposing them to a light source. The result will be unique and beautiful prints. Each participant will be taking home two paper prints and a tote bag.
The workshop will take place on Saturday, July 19th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Admission will start at $28.52.
The Book Binding for Beginners - Making an Artist Journal will be a make-and-take session that will teach bookbinding basics by creating blank hardcover Journals. The process will begin with hand sewing paper signatures to make a text block. Next students will prepare a hard cover and affix the text block to the hard cover. The Books will then be covered with decorative paper and collages. All materials and tools will be provided.
This workshop will be on Saturday, August 2nd from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with admission starting at $33.85.
Both workshops will be conducted by one of the store managers, Emily, a self-taught multi-media artist. at Plaza Artists Material & Picture Framing, 519 York Road, Towson.
