Towson will be marking the anniversary of our nation's independence on the 4th of July.
Festivities will begin with the 7th Annual 4 on the 4th Mile Run. The event will be a four-mile run-walk along the parade route and along Towson University trails. The run-walk will begin at 8:15 am at the courthouse. As soon as all the race participants are on the course, the 1778 Family Fun Run will begin.
Registration for the four-mile is $35 until race day, upon which it will increase to $40. The 1776 Family Fun Run will cost $15 from now to race day, and then go up to $20 when registration opens at 7:00 am on race day.
The first 300 registrants will receive performance shirts and medals, and everyone can use the water stop on the course and enjoy food and drinks after the race. Awards will go to the top three female and male finishers.
Those participating in this year's Bike Rush will need to arrive at 9:45 am at Towsontown Boulevard at Burke Avenue.
A music performance will take place after the race at the historic Courthouse at 10:15 am, and the Towson 4th of July Parade will step off at 10:30 am.
Many groups that participate in 4th of July parades often get red, white, and blue banner printing done beforehand to introduce their units to spectators.
