Towson gets ready for holidays

Towson is easing into the holiday spirit with a Christmas Market, a tree lighting ceremony, and a cookie crawl coming in the first part of December.

Baltimore County Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Fire & Ice will kick off the season. Along with the tree lighting, the evening will include free photos with Frosty, The Grinch, Olaf, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and Santa's helpers. Ice sculptures may be viewed at participating businesses and there will be live performances, free hot chocolate, and Christmas cookies. Attendees may warm themselves at firepits while strolling around town enjoying the inflatable decorations and lights, and local restaurants will have giveaways.

The event will be Friday, December 6 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Olympian Park, 1 W Joppa Road.

That weekend, Towson Town Center, at 825 Dulaney Valley Road, will have a Towson Christmas Market from December 6 through 8. Vendors will include bakeries, catering businesses, gift boutiques, and florists. Many vendors that sell at festive events like this often have brightly decorated Business Cards that they slip into customers’ packages.

The Towson Christmas Market will run from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm each day.

Lastly, the Towson Chamber of Commerce will present its annual Cookie Crawl & Tour of Towson on Saturday, December 14 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. Guests are invited to an afternoon of strolling around Downtown Towson enjoying the festive holiday decorations while collecting cookies and holiday treats from participating local businesses.
