County fair to return to Jessup area
Howard County is hosting its annual fair this August.
The fair features a variety of vendors, contests, rides, and entertainment. Contests include mule jumping, horse pulling, lawn motor racing, pie eating, and best animal costume. Details about how to enter all of the competitions are available on the fair’s website. The entertainment lineup includes live music, a horse parade, and a Wild West reenactment.
There will also be agriculture and animal exhibitions, including a rabbit show, beekeeping demonstration, goat show, and flower competition. The online entry form for livestock competitions is open through July 1. Attendees should check the fair’s website for the full schedule of specific activities. Organizers often work with print shops to design signs for their events.
Admission is $10 per person. Children 12 and under can attend with an adult for free, and seniors 62 and older get discounted $5 tickets. Senior admission is free on Tuesday, August 5. Season passes, which cover admission for the full week, are $40. Ride armbands need to be purchased separately. Parking at the fairgrounds is free. The fair is open to all Howard County residents, including those in Jessup and other towns, as well as out-of-town visitors.
The Howard County Fair will take place from Saturday, August 2 to Saturday, August 9. Gates are open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.
