Community college to host seminars for seniors
A Jessup-area community college is hosting a four-day seminar series for seniors this June.
Older Adult Summit Instructional Seminars (OASIS) is intended to provide an engaging and enriching experience for older adults. Each day includes two seminars on a related theme with a lunch break in between. The themes are memoir and Salsa dance as storytelling techniques, gardens in both books and nature, the importance of tea in different cultures and the history of comics and classical music.
Those interested can register on Howard Community College’s website, by mail or in person. OASIS costs $49 per day for Howard County residents, which includes those in Jessup. The fee increases by $10 per day for participants outside of Howard County and $20 per day for those outside of Maryland. Seniors can sign up for a single day or the full series.
The program is designed for older adults, but there is no specific age limit. Participants should pack lunch and bring a notebook and pen if they would like to take notes. Parking lot A is closest to Duncan Hall where the seminars will be held. Colleges often use brochure printing services to share information about their classes and other community programs.
The OASIS seminar series will take place from Monday, June 2 to Thursday, June 5 from 9:00 am to 2:45 pm at Howard Community College.
