Multi-Cultural Festival brings the world to us

For those in Glen Burnie who enjoy ethnic food and entertainment, The Orthodox Church of St. Matthew will be holding its annual Multi-Cultural Festival early next month.

The two-day event will have food and entertainment from Greece, Romania, Ethiopia, Slavic countries, Lebanon, and the U.S. Admission will be free.

Entertainment on the first morning will include Spanish Flamenco Dances, the Chinese Lion Dance, dances with a Japanese theme, and classical ballet. Also on the agenda will be Irish and Greek dancing, English sword dance, step dancing, and varieties from nations like Russia, Finland, and Moldova.

The afternoon will have Zethyrs and Flora, which is a music team that will be playing baroque, renaissance and medieval music.

The last day’s entertainment will have Bossa Nova rhythms, Eastern Europe folk dancing, and belly dancing. A Serbian orchestra will perform with a youth choir and dancers.

Activities will include a market, a silent auction, and a raffle. There will be face painting, glitter, and airbrush tattoos for all ages. Other vendors will be selling quits, hand-painted natural items, gutter protection, U.S. and Canadian tours, and fused glass jewelry.
