The Glen Burnie Improvement Association will be presenting its 29th annual Glen Burnie Memorial Day Parade to commemorate the occasion.
Although no candy will be allowed to be thrown from the moving units in the parade, candy and promotional material will be passed out along the route.
The route this year will begin on Quarterfield Road at Corkran Middle School and participants will march to Crain Highway, where they will turn north and proceed to Post 40 Road. Then the parade will turn east on Post 40 Road.
In order to keep things moving, no units will be allowed to stop along the route. They will, however, be allowed to stop for two-minute performances in front of the Reviewing Stand, which will be at 19 Crain Highway, South at the GBIA Building. Awards will be given out in many categories and mailed to the winning units. Marchers will go to the Carnival Grounds and vehicles will go to the parking lot at the Court House to disband.
Organizations and marching units may want to have Banners placed in front of their groups to introduce themselves to the parade viewers.
The parade will be Sunday May 22, rain or shine. Units will assemble on Quarterfield Road at Corkran Middle School. The parade will step off at 2:00 pm.
