Glen Burnie runners get on their Red Shoes

Runners, walkers, and shufflers from all around the Glen Burnie area will be heading for the first-in-person-in-two-years Red Shoe Shuffle 5K at the weekend.

The event will be a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Maryland. Registration will be $45 for both in-person and virtual adult participation, and $10 for in-person and virtual child participation.

Some of the swag will include commemorative medals; Under Armour race athletic shirts marked with the red, black, and white Red Shoe Shuffle Logo Design; and heart-printed socks.

Participants are asked to raise money to help reach this year’s goal of $350,000. Prizes for Level 1 ($350 to $400) are RMH Racerback tank tops, for Level 2 ($500 to $999) are fleece blankets, Level 3’s are ($1,000 to $2,400) Vests or rain jackets, Level 4 ($2,500 to $4,999) prizes are Airport Pros or Beats headphones, and finally Level 5’s ($5,000) are Apple Watches or iPad Minis.

The run this year will begin at the new Ronald McDonald House on Alsquith Street in Baltimore. The loop will take runners along a scenic route downtown through Little Italy and Harbor East skirting the Inner Harbor. There will be a Celebration Village with refreshments, a kids' only zone, and music back at the starting line.

This year’s Red Shoe Shuffle will take place this Sunday, April 3, at 1 Alsquith Street, Baltimore beginning with registration at 7:30 am and the race following at 8:30 am.
