For those who enjoy a good day of axe-throwing, re-enactments, and a fight pit, The Viking Experience will be coming to the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds toward the end of May.
The Viking Experience is a roaming historically inspired theater group. The cast of characters includes King Greybeard, Hanna the Red, fighter-craftsman Jeremy, the king’s eldest daughter Bekah, Jeremy’s father Halvdan, Aine Sunray – another daughter of the king, Thyra, and silversmith-warrior Volodymyr of the Rus. Other characters include Viking pirate’s daughter Syngin Darkmane, and the dreaded Jarl Bjorn Grimmson.
During the day, attendees can interact with the characters in a camp setting. Guests can also join the Shadow Raven Clan in a 45-minute raid. A Viking dinner will be held each evening, which will be an immersive ad-lib theater experience. There will also be a kids’ Little Viking corner.
Attendees can load up on Viking paraphernalia such as belts, clothing, pottery, bone and horn carvings, and swords from vendors such as Feed the Raven, Horny Things, The Bearded Bone Carver, Ulfur and Leourblaka, and StoneWall Crafts. Merchandise sporting the event’s blue graphic design can be purchased at the group’s website.
The Viking Experience will be held from Saturday, May 22 beginning at 10:00 am, to Sunday, May 23 at 6:00 pm. The Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds is located at 1450 Generals Highway, Crownsville.
