Glen Burnie returns to annual summer carnival

Glen Burnie will again get to attend its traditional Big Glen Burnie Carnival. Every summer since 1908, the carnival has provided the area with rides, games, and food.

One-ticket Kiddies rides will include the Helicopter, Peter Paul Dragons, Merry Go Round, and Tea Cups. Two-ticket Mid-Level rides will be the Bear Affair, Hip Hop, Slide, and Lollipop Swings. Major rides such as Mardi Gras, Bumper Cars, Zipper, and Ferris Wheel will require three tickets. Each individual ticket will cost $1.50 and packages of 30 and 50 tickets are discounted. Unlimited ride wristbands will cost $25 a night.

Games will include Wheels of Chance, bingo, and dime pitch. Concessions stands along the midway will be hawking summer treats such as ice cream, hamburgers, and pizza.

The Glen Burnie Improvement Association sponsors the carnival each year to raise money for GBIA building upkeep, and for supporting nonprofits such as schools, sports leagues and scouts.

Since GBIA members, local businesses and community members are volunteering at this event to better the community, it is the sort of occasions where flyer printing might help with promotion.

The carnival will be located in downtown Glen Burnie behind the Anne Arundel County Parking Garage. Apart from being closed on Sunday, July 28, It will run eight days from Friday, July 26 to Saturday, August 3rd, 6:30 pm until 11:00 pm on weekends and 6:30 pm until 10:30 pm on weekdays.
