Glen Burnie learns traditional Irish music

Those here in Glen Burnie wanting to learn about Irish music will be going to the 11th Annual Baltimore Irish Trad Fest in mid-April.

The Irish Trad Fest will feature workshops, and sessions led by well-known traditional Irish musicians that perform on Irish instruments such as button accordion, fiddle, flute, tin whistle, banjo, pipes, guitar, concertina, bodhran and harp.

Saturday at the ACCE at 1300 W 36th Street location, the activity will be four-hour intensive small group classes in the morning. Intermediate sessions will run from 3:45 pm to 5:30 pm.

On Sunday a brunch will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Nepenthe Brewing Company, 3626 Falls Road.

At 1:15 pm, guests will get their choice of Intro to Irish Music on the Tin Whistle workshop an instructor panel discussing "From Clare to Boston", and Tune Teach.

From 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, classes will include a Youth Fiddle Class, Irish Traditional Music in London panel and dancer and musician health and wellness class.

From 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm, classes will be Song Repertoire, The New York Sligo Style, and a Slow Session.

The Fairwell Session will begin at 5:30 pm at the Bluebird Pub and a singing session will follow.
