Glen Burnie’s First Annual Gingerbread Festival is coming to Marley Station in early December.
The three-day competition will be open to gingerbread house creators in five categories – Mini for ages five and under, Kids for ages six to twelve, Teens for ages 13 to 17, Adults for ages 18 and over, and Professionals. Entry fees are $5 for Mini, $10 for Teens and Kids, $20 for Adults, and $30 for Professionals. Entry Forms must be submitted by November 30.
A panel of judges will choose one winner and one honorable mention in each category. The winner of each category will receive gift baskets –(Mini $25, Kids and Teens $50, Adult $100, Professional $200). Honorable mentions will receive ribbons. A People’s Choice Award will be chosen by those who attend the event.
Along with the competition the venue will also feature local crafters, a sweet shop, festival merchandise featuring the event’s gingerbread house graphic design, and a scavenger hunt. There will also be a raffle and auction. Money raised by the merchandise shop, auction, and raffle will go to Mary Serpe, a local who is battling lung and brain cancer.
The First Annual Glen Burnie Gingerbread Festival will take place Friday, December 9 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm; Saturday, December 10, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm; and Sunday, December 11 from noon to 6:00 pm at Marley Station Mall, 7900 Ritchie Highway.
