Glen Burnie racers will be getting out their running shoes in preparation for the upcoming 6th Annual Brigance Brigade Foundation 5.7 K Championship Race, 1.57 Mile Family Walk/Run and Kids’ Fun Run coming late in April.
The event will be a fundraiser for the Foundation, created by O.J. Brigance – a former NFL player – and his wife, that helps people who have amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
This year, due to the overwhelming turn out last year, registration will be limited to 1,500 participants. Registration for the 5.7 K Run/Walk will be $45 and those who wish to do the 1.57 Mile Run/Walk will need to pay $35. Runners and walkers will get participation medals and shirts touting the event’s special graphic design when they pick up their packets.
After the race, everyone is invited to attend Celebration Village, where there will be a Kids’ Zone, beer garden, food, music, and great views of the harbor.
A new addition this year will be a brunch presented by Jimmy’s Famous Seafood Restaurant. A buffet bar will be set up and those who have bought the “Brunch option” when they registered can build their own meals. A special tent will offer champagne, mimosas, and beer for purchase.
The Brigance Brigade Foundation 5.7 K Championship event is scheduled to take place at Canton Waterfront Park, Baltimore on Sunday, April 28 starting at 9:00 am.
