Glen Burnie hosts 4th of July event a little early

Glen Burnie Improvement Association has announced that it will be hosting its annual 4th of July Fireworks a day early.

The Glen Burnie Boys Baseball concession stand will offer food for purchase.Parking will be available at Monsignor Slade School and at the Light Rail Parking lot. There will be a drop-off area located beside Sawmill Creek Park at the Pascal Center.

Having the local event a day early will allow locals to take in either the Washington DC fireworks extravaganza with the National Independence Day parade down Constitution Avenue and fireworks on the National Mall, or the Ports America Chesapeake 4th of July Celebration in downtown Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Both are on July 4 itself.

The Glen Burnie fireworks will begin after dark around 9:00 pm on Tuesday, July 3 at Sawmill Creek Park, 7405 Charley Eckman Lane.

The National Independence Day Parade, July 4, will begin at 11:45 am with the best viewing locations at 17th St. NW, where the parade will end around 2:00 pm.

The DC Fireworks can be seen at the National Mall or across the Potomac River at the Iwo Jima Memorial or Netherlands Carillon on July 4th starting at 9:00 pm. Many corporations give tickets to the higher-end locations as Corporate Gifts.

Ports America Chesapeake 4th of July Celebration fireworks will start at 9:30 pm. Good viewing locations will be at Harbor East, Canton, Fell’s Point, Federal Hill and Locust Point.
