City celebrates local family tradition

Community volunteers will be running the Big Glen Burnie Carnival again this year.

As always, the event will be free and tickets for the rides and attractions will run at $1.25 each. Ride All Night Wristbands will also be available.

The Kiddie rides, which will require one ticket each, will include the Tea Cups, Roadster, Peter Paul Dragons, Junglemania, and the Moon Bounce.

The Mid-Level Rides require two tickets each and will include Bear Affair, Lollipop Swings, HipHop, and Slide. Meanwhile, major rides such as the Ferris wheel, Scrambler, Bumper Cars, Zipper, and Tilt-a-Whirl will require three tickets each.

One lucky ticket holder will win a new car, and everyone will get a prize such as a stuffed animal or a sports plaque at the Wheels of Chance. Other games that involve chance or skill will include Bingo and Dime Pitch.

The Glen Burnie Improvement Association will be sponsoring this event, with part of the proceeds going to maintain the Glen Burnie Improvement Association (GBIA) building. The GBIA also donates part of the proceeds to local nonprofit groups such as schools and scouts. GBIA members may want to have some flyer printing carried out to support this event.

This event is scheduled for Friday, July 31 through Saturday, August 8 in downtown Glen Burnie. Monday through Thursday’s hours will be 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm, and Friday and Saturday hours will be 4:30 pm to 11:00 pm.
