Christmas in Glen Burnie returns for 2020

For 36 years, Anthony Orio’s home and yard at 528 Delmar Avenue here in Glen Burnie has been arrayed in lights and holiday displays for the Christmas season. Despite a challenging 2020, this year will be no different.

Old favorite light displays will include the welcoming Magic Lights banner supported by twinkling lighted Christmas presents, a dancing Santa, a twinkly white snowman, and multi-colored Christmas tree. The house will be drenched in blue and red Christmas lights. The Grinch, Frosty the Snowman and a happy little red white and blue solder carrying a candy cane will be there. Other plywood yard decorations include the Mickey and Minnie Mouse train, Minnie and Mickey munching on a candy canes, the Grinch, his dog Max, and Whoville’s little Cindy Lou Who holding a bright red Christmas tree ornament. The Chipmunks will be there in holiday finery with their CDC masks on. Kids can again enjoy the snowmaker.

New this year will be pups from 101 Dalmatians, a friendly reindeer, and one of Santa’s elves peeping over the fence.

Guests who take pictures (with the owner’s permission, of course) like to take the photos to nearby Stationery printers to be made into Christmas cards.

Although the event will be free, the Orios appreciate any donations to help them offset expenses such as the electricity bills.

The Christmas display will begin December 1 through December 31, from 5:30 pm until 10:00 pm.
