New restaurants coming to Gaithersburg
Restauranteur Jeffeary Miskiri is planning to open new eateries in Gaithersburg and Silver Spring.
According to Miskiri, the restaurant in Gaithersburg will be named Miss Toya’s Southern Kitchen. It will be located at 229 Boardwalk Place and is set to open in about four months’ time. The space used to house BGR: Burgers Grilled Right.
Miskiri manages several Cajun and creole restaurants all over the region. He is in the process of opening multiple locations in Maryland with the Miss Toya’s brand, which is named after his wife. These include Miss Toya’s Creole House in Silver Spring, which will be able to seat 150 people.
When asked about what will be on the menu when the restaurant opens, Miskiri was reluctant to give too much away, but said he expects the Southern fried chicken sandwich to be a big focus and for there to be a range of items taken from the other Miss Toya’s restaurants’ menus.
The restaurant in Silver Spring is expected to offer items such as catfish and grits, fried green tomatoes, and seafood gumbo. The Gaithersburg restaurant will be based on a “quick service model” style of restaurant where people will order at a counter but dine in. Local print shops are often be used to create menus for new restaurants.
Inspections from county officials have been scheduled for the coming weeks, but Miskiri is not willing to give a definitive opening date just yet.
