An upcoming Gaithersburg production will take a meta approach to one of literature’s most famous characters with “The Reluctant Resurrection of Sherlock Holmes.”
The play stars Arthur Conan Doyle, the author who created Holmes, as he finds himself involved in a mystery two years after “killing off” his beloved character. The script, by D. M. Belke, also features Holmes as a character haunting his author and looking to be brought back to life, all while helping to solve a murder. The play is recommended for audiences aged 15 and above for mature themes.
The Gaithersburg Production is directed by Avery Morstan, produced by Cassandra Redding, and with stage management and sound design by Aaron Skolnik. Cast members have been selected through a local audition of amateur actors. The production is being staged by the Montgomery Playhouse organization, which is one of the oldest community theater companies in Maryland.
This production will run across three weekends, with evening shows on Friday and Saturday and matinees on Sundays. Community theater productions like this often use poster printing services and social media clips to attract viewers and raise awareness of the production in the community.
