Gaithersburg winter festival to celebrate 30 years

The Winter Lights Festival will be holding its 30th edition in Gaithersburg this November and December, bringing people together with large festive light displays.

The Festival features a 3.5-mile stretch of holiday lights and displays, including hundreds of different installations. The display is designed to be driven through in 25-30 minutes. Attendees can also tune into 97.1 WASH FM for holiday music to complement the experience.

In addition to the main attraction, there will be select Enchanted Evenings events where people can explore the course on foot. Families can camp out and enjoy treats at the S’More Lights event on November 21, or give their pets a treat at Walk & Wag on the 24th, while adults can enjoy wine and other drinks at Sip & Sparkle on the 23rd. The MCRRC will hold a five-kilometer Walk/Run Under the Lights on the 22nd, providing visual displays along with an athletic race.

Light displays like this are a popular attraction during holiday seasons, helping to account for the Winter Lights Festival’s longevity. These attractions often use methods like poster printing and local radio promotion to help draw in people looking for a unique holiday experience.

The 2025 Winter Lights Festival will take place from November 25 to December 31 at Seneca Creek State Park, with Enchanted Evening Events taking place from November 21 to 24.
