Pizzeria looks to earn a crust in Bethesda
Blaze Pizza, headquartered in Pasadena, California, is entering the Washington, D.C., market this summer with three new locations, including one in Bethesda, Maryland.
Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza, to give the restaurant its full name, will open in Bethesda at the Montgomery Mall within about six months. The additional Maryland locations, in College Park and Laurel, will be open by the end of the year.
The franchise allows customers to order personal pizzas, none of which costs more than $8, made on the spot from artisanal, fresh ingredients of their choice. Once the customer has “designed” his or her pizza, it goes into an open-flame oven kept at blazing hot temperatures, which is the central feature of each of the franchises. The pizza is baked in less than three minutes.
Each franchise makes its dough from scratch, using Blaze Pizza's Executive Chef Brad Kent's recipe to create a light, crisp crust. The chain can also cater for diners with dietary requirements or choices by offering gluten-free pizzas and vegan ingredients.
The Bethesda store comprises about 1,900 square feet, including the dining room and patio, and seats approximately 75 patrons. Operators may want to work with a flyer printing company to come up with handouts, including coupons, to distribute at the opening and let the public know of this new dining.
