New Bethesda eatery set to open soon
Silver, a new upscale diner, is now under construction and will be opening soon.
The restaurant, which is located near Bethesda Row in the Flats apartment complex, will welcome customers later this month.
The Bethesda location will modify items found on the dinner and lunch menus of the Silver Diner, a chain that operates in New Jersey, Virginia and Rockville, Maryland, along with other Maryland locations. It will take the diner entrees currently offered and create further fine dining entrees from them, such as a scallop entree, and hangar steak with a demi-glaze of horseradish and chimichurri.
Silver's executive chef, Ype Von Hengst said the place will have the “heart of a diner”, but it will look like a brasserie, and the atmosphere, food, and service will be upscale. Among the more unusual offerings will be spiked milkshakes, which the restaurant will make by adding alcohol to its signature milkshakes to make specialty drinks. Beer and cocktails will also be served, and a late night menu will be available.
Diner management could consider working with a flyer printing company on a handout containing a coupon to be distributed near the location during the opening.
Von Hengst said the location is set to open on September 22, and will be hiring some servers. The diner is near the comer of Bethesda Avenue and Woodmont Triangle.
