Apartments get planning approval in Bethesda
Planning officials of Montgomery County recently approved a plan that would allow the construction of a new apartment building in North Bethesda.
The building will have 294 units, and will stand on land currently being used as a dog park by residents of North Bethesda Town Center. The new complex will be near Citadel Avenue and Marinelli Road, and will be sited next to two buildings already in place – Aurora House (which has 341 units) and Wentworth House (which has 312).
The proposed building will comprise approximately 320,000 square feet, and, because it is located on a slope, will range from five to seven stories in height.
LCOR White Flint is the developer of the project, but the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is the owner of the land. LCOR signed a development agreement in 2001 with the transit authority, but last year, the agreement lapsed, and transit officials reassumed control of part of the site.
The proposed building will be built on the site of a ‘pop-up’ dog park used by residents of both Aurora House and Wentworth House. Matt Hard, the vice president of LCOR, said his company was not required to develop the park, but it had proven so popular, LCOR is trying to relocate it.
Major projects like this can impact large areas, so developers might consider working with a newsletter printing company to make sure residents have accurate information.
