A new public safety building is currently under construction in Quincy.
This will be a state-of-the-art campus for the police station and the fire department. As these two departments will be in one building, it is expected to help the city’s fire and police departments operate more efficiently, while also aiding emergency management services. It will also include a business wing for the health department, veterans’ services, and inspectional services with emergency operations, training, and public outreach next to each other.
Such sites often use banner printing to inform residents of municipal developments and keep them updated on their progress.
The building will span 120,000 square feet and will be four stories in height. It will be the headquarters for the Quincy Police Department and will include administrative offices for the fire department and emergency management. Upgrades to infrastructure, landscaping, utilities, and traffic in the area will be administrated here too. There will also be significant improvements in technology, with a space for cybercrime, cameras, digital storage, and unmanned aerial vehicle storage and maintenance.
An acre of greenspace will be situated on the front of the building on the side that faces Sea Street, and will wrap around the corner to also face the Southern Artery.
The building is expected to be completed next year at a total cost of $175m.
