Businesses that have operated in the city for more than 25 years and have provided jobs, have enriched the community both socially and culturally, and have demonstrated their commitment to serving the residents of the city are acknowledged by this program. Those businesses which qualify for this program cannot be part of a regional or national chain or be a franchise.
Members of the community are invited to nominate their favorite long-standing business and share stories of how they contributed to the city. Customers, friends, and family can nominate a business, or it can nominate itself.
Mayor Tom Koch said:
“Every legacy business represents generations of hard work and dedication. By recognizing them in this special way, we're celebrating not only their past achievements but also the important role they continue to play in shaping our City.”
He encouraged residents to participate in the nomination process to celebrate those businesses which have been part of the city for many generations. Poster prating can be used throughout a city to garner more nominations from residents for such programs.
Nominations for this program need to be submitted by Monday September 21 by using a form on the city’s website.
