Quincy to host parade for flag day
The city of Quincy will be holding its Flag Day Parade later this month as part of the celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the city.
To enhance public enjoyment of the celebration, the parade route has been extended. The parade will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Hannon Parkway and Hancock Street, continue north on Hancock Street, and conclude at the intersection of Adams Field and Vietnam Veterans Drive. This will be followed by a musical performance and flag-raising ceremony at Pageant Field.
At approximately 9:00 p.m. there will be fireworks over Black’s Creek sponsored by Quirk Auto.
Featured at this year’s parade will be elite drum corps and national bands, public safety and veterans’ color guards, specialty units, new floats honoring the rich history of Quincy, over 1,000 youngsters waving flags, and a fleet of classic cars. Former Grand Marshals will be returning to join the parade.
Among the bands scheduled to perform are the Long Island Sunrisers Drum Corp NY and Boston Crusaders Drop Corp MA.
Such special events that are part of a quadricentennial celebration can be promoted throughout a city and neighboring communities with poster printing.
Mayor Tom Koch said that this event is a great tradition in the city and represents the best organizations, groups, and residents participating.
The Flag Day Parade will be on Saturday, June 14.
