The outdoor skating rink in downtown Quincy is now open.
The rink is on Dennis Ryan Parkway, next to the Kilroy Square parking garage and across from the courthouse. Parking is available in the garage as well as on the street.
The rink is 106 feet by 56 feet, which is larger than the rink of last year. This will enable more people to skate at the same time. The Department of Natural Resources will staff the rink to ensure the quality of the ice, as well as order and safety for everyone.
Local Print shops can help promote such winter activities with Flyers, Brochures, and other printed materials that can be distributed throughout a city.
Mayor Thomas Koch said that the plan is to build on the success of last year by providing families with a free and fun activity outdoors in the downtown area of the city. He is encouraging residents to come for a free skate and patronize the businesses in the area.
Dave Murphy, Commissioner of Natural Resources, said the skating rink was extremely popular last year and helped to highlight the many improvements that have been made throughout the center of the city. He expressed his thanks to the mayor for his commitment to this effort and for the transformation of the downtown area.
The rink will be open every day of the week from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m.
