Quincy is gearing up for its 36th annual Lunar New Year festival, scheduled to take place this February.
The Lunar Year – also known as Vietnamese Tet, Chinese Chunjie, Tibetan Losar, the Spring Festival, or Korean Solnal – is a celebration usually associated with China, although it is observed in various Asian countries. The festivities will kick off with the lunar calendar's first new moon and will finish up on the date of the first whole moon, spanning a 15-day period.
During this event, family and friends unite to express wishes for good health, prosperity, and longevity for the year to come. As the Year of the Dragon, 2024 will represent growth, happiness, abundance, and prosperity.
The schedule for the festival includes a Lion Dance Ceremony at noon, cultural performances, arts and crafts, Asian drinks and food, and a magician.
Admission is free. Individuals interested in getting information about being a sponsor or vendor can send an email to events@quincyasianresources.org. The different sponsorship levels available are the Gold Level for $3,000, the Jade Level for $8,000, the Diamond Level for $12,000, and the Presenting Level for $18,000.

The date of the event will be Sunday, February 18, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at North Quincy High School, 316 Hancock St. A snow date is scheduled for the following Sunday, February 25.
