Newburyport Development and the city will be splitting the cost for refurbishing a cracked and faded portion of Inn Street in the city.
Mike Hennessey, Parks Manager, said that Gary Huberdeau Masonry of North Andover has been working with the city to bolster an aesthetically displeasing but structurally sound concrete column near the pedestrian overpass over Inn Street.
Andrew Levine, City Chief of Staff, said the column will be resurfaced and the perimeter of the overpass will be pressure washed, strengthened, and sealed. Levine added that the broken and cracked border joints surrounding the column will be fixed and drainage will be installed.
Another part of the project, adds Levine, will be bolstering the brick stairway that leads to the office of Newburyport Development. He commented that these repairs should keep the column strong and attractive.
News of such important projects and their benefits can be made known throughout the community with flyer printing.
Newburyport Development owns over 50 major retail establishments in the downtown area. Levine said that this project exemplifies how the city can work with a local business to benefit residents of the community. He thanked Hennessey for his work and leadership on the masonry aspects of the project. Hennessey said that the much-needed work on Inn Street has been one of his major goals since he started working for the city in 2016.
