Winter series concludes with violin and piano duo

As part of the Jean C. Wilson Music Series for 2017, the Steinberg Duo will be performing in the final of four concerts in Newburyport later this month.

The duo consists of pianist Nicholas Burns and violin player Louisa Stonehill, and the pair will be performing three pieces: Four Romantic Pieces by Dvorak, Sonata No. 3 in C minor for Violin and Piano Op 45 by Grieg, and Cesar Franck’s Violin Sonata in A.

The duo regularly performs and studies with chamber musicians in other countries, and also participated in IMS Prussia Cove in England in 2010, as well as Chamber Studio master classes at Kings Place from 2010 to 2012. In addition, Burns and Stonehill were in residence in Canada during the month of January from 2012 to 2014 at The Banff Centre.

The violin Stonehill plays is an English one, based on a model owned by the late Yehudi Menuhin, and made by Glen Collins in 2010. The name of the group comes from the original Polish surname of Stonehill, which her father Anglicized in the 1940s.

The concert will take place at the Unitarian Church on March 26 at 4:00 pm. Poster printing companies can be hired to create Posters that can be displayed throughout the area to promote events like this that form part of a series.
