Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Leo Roy, and local and state officials recently joined Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito to announce the construction of the future Welcome Center at Salisbury Beach
Residents of Newburyport are most likely delighted with this news, as the beach is close by and easily accessible to the community.
The facility will cost $1.4m and designed, constructed, and maintained by the town of Salisbury. Among its numerous amenities will be storage space for beach supplies, a breakroom for lifeguards on duty at that portion of the state beach, and bathrooms for the public to use. Funding of the facility will be in the form of a grant that was made possible by an Environmental Bond Bill, which was secured by state Senator Kathleen O’Connor.
According to the state Senator from Newburyport, many people, including the Governor and Leo Roy, have supported the beach and have collaborated with the town to make investments that will increase the number of visitors and tourists to the area, which can only help economic development.
The town may look to a banner printing company to create Banners that can be posted at the location of the proposed Welcome Center so that those who come to and enjoy the beach will be aware of the addition.
