Davis Bates and Roger Tincknell will soon be performing in an outdoor concert for all ages, presented by the Rowley Library.
Residents of Newburyport, particularly those four years of age and older, will want to attend this free performance of these winners of the Parents’ Choice Awards.
Called “This Land is Your Land,” the program celebrates community, reading, history, and diversity. There will be homegrown stories and songs, as well as tales from immigrant cultures and singalongs. An appearance by Bingo, who is a dancing wooden dog, and a short lesson on how to play the spoons will also be part of the program. Poster printing is often used throughout a town and neighboring communities to attract attendees to such special events.
Bates and Tincknell have performed for many years in community settings throughout the Northeast. Their performances feature strong vocal harmonies, humor, and warm participatory styles. Bates’s storytelling encourages audiences to participate in the fun and to take stories heard home with them. Tincknell is an accomplished songwriter, singer, and musician who plays the guitar, banjo, harmonica, and piano.
The performance will be this Saturday, July 10 at 2:00 pm at the Rowley Library on Main Street. Cool treats will be provided, and everyone should bring a chair or blanket. A grant from the Rowley Cultural Council partially funds the performance.
