Baby-Friendly USA has re-designated Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport as a Baby-Friendly Hospital. Baby-Friendly USA is the national authority and accrediting body for the global Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative.

The honor of the Baby-Friendly USA designation recognizes that Anna Jaques Hospital is following the highest standards of care for mothers who are breastfeeding, along with their babies. The designation is based on a set of practices recommended by the United Nations Children's Fund and the World Health Organization for optimal support of feeding an infant in the first days of the life.
Anna Jaques was first awarded this recognition in 2018, and the redesignation was extended for another five years.
President of Anna Jaques Hospital, Glenn Focht, MD, said that the hospital has been recognized for many years as a leader in the care of women and newborns. He added that this designation demonstrated that the hospital is committed to ensuring that all women who deliver a baby at the hospital are given the support, information, and resources needed to help them and their babies have a healthy start in life. He expressed his pride in the members of the team for their hard work throughout this rigorous process of redesignation, and for their commitment to helping the newborns and their families thrive.
