Newburyport to hold forum to discuss master plan

Residents and business owners are invited to join the volunteers and staff at a public forum to discuss the update on the 10-year Master Plan of the city of Newburyport and economic development of the city.

There are nine distinct chapters in the Newburyport Master Plan that cover topics ranging from energy and sustainability, education, cultural resources, and energy to land use and development. The plan focuses on key strategies for improving the economy of the city in upcoming years.

To help attendees learn more about Newburyport’s economy, background information on the city’s economy, perhaps in the form of Brochures, will be presented by staff from the Planning Department and consultant from the Community Opportunities Group. They will also discuss strategies that can expand and strengthen the business community during the implementation phase of the Master Plan.

There will an opportunity for residents to speak their minds and inform leaders whether they agree with the direction the city is heading. Local business owners in particular will also be asked to voice their opinions and make suggestions for more specific steps that the city can take to support their vitality in the coming years, and improve relations with the business community

The discussion will be held at Newburyport High School this evening, March 24, beginning at 7:00 pm.
