Several activities are planned for the rest of the month at Maudslay State Park, located in Newburyport.
Three stone brides were erected by
the Maudslay family in the park and those who want to learn more about the bridges, the family and the property and take pictures can join a walk from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday August 22. These bridges are architectural wonders and are still functional after many years of use.
An interpreter will lead an art program about a piece of art that incorporates natural materials gathered and assembled to be later reclaimed by nature from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday August 27. This program is most appropriate for children between the ages of 8 and 13 and will use photo cataloging and teach creative thinking, problem solving, and cooperation in an outdoor environment.
An owl prowl will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday August 29. Children over the age of eight who attend will learn about the owls that live in the woods of park and how to call for an owl. A presentation about owls in the area will begin the evening, followed by the hooting experience.
The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, which oversees this park, may want to use a local flyer printing company to create a flyer promoting these unique and fascinating events to attract as many people as possible to attend them.
