During recent celebrations where officials looked back on historic milestones and accomplishments of Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, it was announced that the hospital will be joining a collaboration of four other hospitals in the community so that additional treatment options and healthcare can be provided to patients.
President and CEO of Anna Jaques, Mark Goldstein, said the hospital will be affiliating with Mount Auburn Hospital, New England Baptist Hospital, Lahey Health System, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. There will be a single parent organization, but its name has not yet been decided.
Goldstein commented that healthcare in Eastern Massachusetts will be transformed as a result of this affiliation.
Current CEO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Kevin Tapp, will lead the new system. Anna Jaques Hospital will keep its name and it will still be a non-profit hospital.
Several updates will be made, including the expenditure of $4m towards equipment in the cancer center of the hospital and adding two operating rooms. The orthopedic department of the hospital will also be improved.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the hospital, David LaFlamme, added that the hospital will continue to provide the best care possible for the community.
Printing services can be used to create displays so that people can learn about such developments and their resulting benefits for the community.
