What's Happening in Newburyport, MA…

Newburyport home to new Christmas movie

Newburyport is the scene for a festive movie that will air on UPtv, a basic cable station available on Comcast, starting next month.

Announcements of the premieres of such movies are often made known throughout the community with flyer printing.

Titled “A Ring for Christmas,” the family holiday movie stars Liliana Tandon, Dean Geyer, Michael Gross, and Lorraine Bracco. Key scenes were shot in the city by a film crew of 25 people mostly at Market Square, the Masonic Temple, and the restaurant Brine, which became the 1950s-inspired Frank’s Diner.

Tandon, who wrote the screenplay and is the star of the film, expressed her excitement that it will be debuting. She hoped that the city is as excited as she is about it and that it will bring some joy and cheer to viewers. Tandon is a native of Boston and now lives in New York City, and was thrilled to film a movie so close to where she grew up.

Tandon also expressed her thanks to the residents and officials of the city for their support and interest in the making of the movie. She said that Newburyport was ideal for a Christmas movie, and thanked everyone involved in the city for their graciousness and kindness.

The film will premiere on Sunday November 8 at 8:00 pm and been shown 30 times on the station between that day and Christmas.
