Waterfront Park in Newburyport was recently the site for 17th annual Riverfront Music Festival, which was attended by over 10,000 music lovers, according to the president of the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Frank Cousins.
Cousins added that having several streets blocked off make it easier for people to walk around the downtown, go shopping, dine in the many restaurants, and enjoy the activities. He considered it a safe environment and he believes everyone had a good time. Shuttle buses brought people both to and from satellite parking.
He also believes that businesses in Newburyport will benefit from the event in the long term, as people from around the Commonwealth came to the festival and had the chance to see what the town has to offer.
Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito came for a visit and she joined Cousins on an impromptu shopping spree in the downtown. Cousins commented that Polito purchased something from every store they visited, which included the Brass Lyon, the Best of the British, and an ice-cream from Simply Sweet.
Featured at the festival were Philip Phillips, Anderson East, and Barenaked Ladies. It was produced by radio station WXRV 92.5.
Banner printing companies can be used for displays in the downtown and surrounding areas, so people become aware of such festivals with their performances and other business opportunities.
