The Newburyport Birders will be offering several programs during the month of July.
Coming up this Saturday is ‘Wetlands, Birds and Brews’ from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. The activity starts with a walk through local wetlands followed by a brewery tour. Attendees will have the chance to learn about local beer, and then relax over a drink and some snacks. Preregistration is required and the fee is $20 per person.
‘Evening Birding’ at Cherry Hill Reservoir will be on Tuesday, July 21 and Wednesday, July 29 from 6:30 pm until dusk. The activity will include searching for birds of various kinds. The pace will be slow so as to take in all the sights, and will include walking on some unpaved surfaces, eventually ending up at the pump house. The fee is $15 for each outing.
Founded in September 2002 by Sue McGrath, Newburyport Birders is an educational organization that runs birding programs, teaches about birding basics, and carries out private tours. According to McGrath, who is now the program designer for the group, birding can be a year-round activity.
Tiny, colorful wood warblers come out in May and during the winter, in northeastern Massachusetts and southeastern New Hampshire, there are snowy owls, bald eagles, long-tailed ducks, and many more interesting winter species.
Flyer printing companies may be used by the Newburyport Birders to create Flyers to provide more information about these events, and encourage people to think about birdwatching.
