Newburyport continues landmark year festivities

As part of the continuing 250th anniversary celebration of Newburyport, the Custom House Maritime Museum is holding a special exhibit and several events this month.

The exhibit ‘Revolutionary Newburyport’ tellshow the founding of Newburyport is linked to that of the United States. The lives of individuals in Newburyport, together with the issues of the era, are used to help examine the risks that were taken and the efforts that served to create the town and country within a period of 25 years. The exhibit runs until the end of the year.

Focusing on this theme, the museum will be hosting a history tour over two weekends this month that will enable attendees to explore its cultural exhibits, collection of maritime art, and shipwreck artifacts. It will also highlight the history of the United States Coast Guard, of which Newburyport is the official birthplace.

The annual ‘Trails & Sails’ activity will provide participants with the opportunity to explore the cultural, historic, and natural sites of Essex County with 100 free events. There will be open houses, many guided tours, and other experiences for people of all ages, interests, and skill levels.

The maritime history tour and ‘Trails & Sails’ will take place during the weekends of September 19 through the 21, and the 26 through the 28. The museum could turn to flyer printing to promote these events and exhibits.
